"Bye Bye Birdies" is the second segment of the eighteenth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, Hailey's On It!
Synopsis[]
When Hailey must be truthful for a day, she ends up delivering a comedy roast.
Plot[]
Beta tells Hailey that the next item she needs to complete is to be truthful for a whole day from sun up to sun set. Hailey at first thinks that it will be a breeze, but quickly realizes that she is constantly faced with having to deal with harsh truths on a daily basis. When she attempts to pass up on it, she gets a brief flash of the destroyed future, forcing her to complete it. She decides to completely avoid everyone, but ends up having to be truthful with Ms. Jackson, nearly hurting her feelings, the lunch lady, where her truthfulness actually helps her, and avoids Bored Murray and Beta's newfound obsession with a wrestler.
Hailey suddenly gets forced into a new project for environmental class. The club will receive funding for building an environmental habitat for the screaming mud hens, which despite everyone hating are on the endangered species list. Hailey is forced to give a speech towards the donor who, to her shock, is Robert Vandertrache, the Chemical Spill King, who is known for being one of the worst people in the world. The donation simply being a ruse so that Vandertrache can impress hi sixth wife Gigi. Hailey is terrified as if she lies she fails the list item, but if she tells the truth, the school will most likely lose the funding.
At the gala, Hailey sees that both Vandertrache and Gigi are equally ignorant and is afraid of giving her speech. She proceeds to give a very basic speech, much to Vandertrache's annoyance who ask that she get into specifics. Hailey finally snaps and insults Vandertrache with a ridiculous comparison where, to her surprise, makes everyone laugh including Vandertrache. Hailey continues her tirade when she realizes that she is roasting him and ends up winning over everyone at the party. Vandertrache is amused to the point that he not only gives the school more money, he admits that he should change his ways. Hailey finally relaxes over beating her list item.
