Charles Oliver "C.O." Slyfield was an American sound engineer, who worked for Walt Disney Animation Studios during the early years of the company. He would be nominated for four Academy Awards for Best Sound or Recording in the animated feature films: Bambi, Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, and Cinderella.
Slyfield was born in Frankfort, Michigan and became Disney's chief of sound and one of those responsible for innovative techniques used for mixing sound in animated features. He would continued to work with the company all the rest of his career in cartoon shorts, live-action films, and documentaries.
In 1947, Slyfield and fellow soundman Robert O. Cook received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for "the design and development of an audio finder and track viewer for checking and locating noise in sound tracks".
