"CAT-astrophe" is the first segment of the eleventh episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It premiered on November 12, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Bootsie gets lost at the cat show and Doc Ock turns her into a super-sized, monster kitty.
Plot[]
A cat show is being held at the park, and Peter and Aunt May are entering their cat, Bootsie. Upon arriving where the show is being held, Aunt May decides to check out the competition. Peter stays with Bootsie, and decides to fluff up her fur so she will stand out more during the show. He puts Bootsie in her cat carrier while he rummages through Aunt May's back to find her brush. However, Peter does not properly close the cat carrier, nor does he lock it. This allows Bootsie to escape and chase after a butterfly. By the time Peter finds the brush, Bootsie is long gone. Meanwhile, not so far from the cat show, Doc Ock and CAL also arrive at the park with a new invention: the Octo-Sizer, which can make anything big or small. She plans to use her new intvention to turn CAL into a giant. However, Bootsie gets in the way, and Doc Ock accidently turns her into a giant instead of CAL.
Gwen and Miles arrive at the catshow, and Peter runs up to them for help. He tells them Bootsie is missing, but it does not take them long to find her. She shows up as a giant cat, and starts chasing after CAL. Upon seeing Doc Ock, The Spiders suit up and swing into action. They swing after Doc Ock, who is in pursuit of saving CAL from Bootsie. She uses her Octo-Sizer to fend them off. She even throws a giant trash can at them. The Spiders conclude that Doc Ock's Octo-Sizer might be what they need to return Bootsie to normal size. So, they split into two. Ghosty and Spin go after Bootsie while Spidey goes after Doc Ock.
The chase eventually leads out of the park and onto the streets. Bootsie is still chasing after CAL, and eventually catches him in her mouth. Ghosty and Spin try to get her to drop CAL, but she runs off further into the city. Spidey tries to get Doc Ock to hand over the Octo-Sizer peacefully, but she refuses. Meanwhile, Aunt May returns to find Peter and Bootsie are gone. She assumes they had gone over to the show area, and decides to wait for them.
Back in the city, Bootsie is roaming the streets with CAL still in her mouth. She causes a great deal of traffic disruption, and knocks down a fish sign that she thinks is a toy. Ghosty and Spin web up a huge ball to lure Bootsie away from the traffic and onto the rooftops. But then she gets herself stuck on top of a sign while chasing the web ball. Doc Ock shows up and is about to zap Bootsie until Spidey shows up and swipes the Octo-Sizer. The two have a tug of war over the Octo-Sizer until they end up breaking it into two pieces. However, they put aside any quarreling when they notice Bootsie and CAL are in danger of falling. Spidey promises a truce with Doc Ock. If he helps her fix her Octo-Sizer, she can use it to shrink Bootsie back to normal size like he wants, and that will make it easy for her to get CAL back like she wants. Doc Ock reluctantly agrees with him, and the two head up to the roof together.
Ghosty and Spin are trying to keep Bootsie from falling, but eventually their webs break and Bootsie loses her balance. She falls from the roof and swallows CAL. Spidey uses his web to fix the Octo-Sizer, and Doc Ock zaps Bootsie back to normal size as Spidey catches her. The Spiders return to the ground with Bootise, who is back to normal, but now all fluffy. Then she coughs up CAL, who had also been shrunk, and returns to Doc Ock. However, before she can escape and resume her evil plans, Bootsie frigtens off the tiny CAL. Spidey then swipes the Octo-Sizer from Doc Ock. Instead of taking her invention back, she goes after CAL.
The Spiders return to the cat show with a fluffy Bootsie. Peter apologizes to Aunt May for disappearing, and explains how Bootsie got away. All is forgiven, and now it is time for the cat show to begin.
