Candace Taylor is a character from the 2020 Disney+ original film The One and Only Ivan.
Background[]
Candace serves as news reporter working for the WNMZ for a local channel. She is a local news reporter who often gives out news in the area where she lives, especially the Big Top Mall. When she witnessed the animals escaping from the circus, she tried to give Mack an explanation of the animals' conditions at the circus which Mack tells her to film about Ivan's performance at the circus. After Ivan's painting was a success, everyone became impressed just as Julia asks Candace if she can help out with Ivan which after a conversation, she gave out a report regarding about the conditions of the animals living in the circus, resulting in Ivan and Ruby being relocated to Zoo Atlanta, followed by the other animals being released except for Snickers who remains with Mack.
Role in the film[]
Mack approaches Candace telling him about the animal escape at the Big Top Mall last night which Mack tells her that the animals are fine, telling her that he will start another show. While talking to him, she allows him to film inside the circus during Ivan's performance. He then approaches George, telling him that Candace is out there, asking a lot of questions about the animals escaping and if she finds out about Mack, he will be fired just as Mack thanks Julia helping out with the spotlight she is using. Later when Ivan shows a large painting to the audience, Candace becomes impressed of Ivan's hard work, just as everyone cheers for his work.
After Ivan's performance was a success, Julia approaches Candace while trying to discuss with George about freeing Ivan from the circus just as Julia gets into a private conversation with her about the gorilla's condition at the circus. The next day, Candace is last seen giving a report on the news of Ivan wanting to be free from the circus as a protest is gathered outside the Big Top Mall demanding the animals to be freed from the circus which Mack watches the news report on his television. In the aftermath, Ivan and Ruby are relocated to Zoo Atlanta while all the other animals (except Snickers) are relocated to a different location. Candace does not appear again afterwards.
