Steve Rogers (also known as Captain America) is one of the main characters who appears in the Disney XD Marvel Comics animated series The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He is an American war hero from World War II, the First Avenger and the co-leader of the team.

Steve Rogers was created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon.

Background[]

Captain America is a soldier of honor dedicated to fighting for peace, justice, freedom and democracy. He has the ability to talk to anyone in a calm manner. His speeches are known to inspire others and often turn the tide of a battle. Steve's sense of justice makes him a difficult opponent to defeat while fighting villains, mainly because he knew if he failed, the Earth's people and fate would be doomed.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Artificially Enhanced Physiology: After being injected with the Super Soldier Serum, Steve's physical abilities were enhanced beyond ordinary humans to a currently undefined level. He became much stronger, faster, tougher, and recovers faster than the likes of an ordinary man.
    • Enhanced strength: Strength increased to the absolute peak of human physicality.
    • Enhanced Speed: He is faster than any Olympic athlete.
    • Enhanced Agility: Steve's agility, bodily coordination, and balance are greater than those of an Olympic athlete. He can coordinate his body with balance, flexibility, and dexterity.
    • Enhanced Reflexes: Steve's enhanced reflexes allow him to react with enough speed to dodge automatic gunfire.
    • Enhanced Durability: Steve has a great level of resistance toward all types of harm due to his muscles being more denser and harder than normal humans.

History[]

Steven Grant Rogers was born in 1917 and, like his other counterparts, participated in World War II, after being selected by Professor Erskine to join the super soldier program, where he was given superhero powers through an injection of the Super Soldier Serum. During the war, he fought against tyranny with his best friend and sidekick Bucky Barnes, who was thought to be lost during a battle with HYDRA. He became known as Captain America. However, Steve would end up frozen in the Arctic for decades, before being thawed out in the twenty-first century by the Avengers, a team of advanced superheroes.

Upon regaining consciousness, he at first did not believe decades had passed and was quick to assume his saviours were HYDRA agents. However, he eventually saw the truth, and brought him to the Avengers mansion. Soonafter, he joined the Avengers as a founding member, along with Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp. He became their leader, with Iron Man as his second in command, and together they would face life-threatening events such as a gamma war and would eventually be reunited with Bucky, now known as the Winter Soldier.

Around the time of the Skrull invasion, Captain America was captured, while a Skrull took his shape. He spent two months in captivity aboard a Skrull ship, enduring horrendous and severe torture. Eventually, Captain America managed to escape captivity and return to Earth along with other prisoners who had been replaced by Skrull impostors. Captain America reunited with the Avengers in Washington, D.C. to aid them against the Skrull Queen Veranke and her armada of Super-Skrull led by her Captain America. Captain America battled against his Skrull doppelganger impersonator, which grew intense and ferocious with the Skrull cap having the advantage over Rogers until Rogers informs his doppelganger that their is more to humanity than just their bodies and minds that make them strong, it's their willing spirit to never give up or surrender. With that, Captain America defeats him, and reclaims his place in the Avengers. However, he would have to work on reinstating his reputation which was now ruined by his Skrull doppelganger.

Trivia[]

  • If the series had continued, Captain America would've died and would pay his debt with Hela.
  • Steve Rogers' serial number is 54985870.
