Caroline Cow (sometimes known as Carolyn Cow[1]) was part of the original Mickey Mouse cartoon cast. The name is used for the generic cow that is often seen in black-and-white Mickey Mouse cartoons but is not to be confused with Clarabelle Cow. Her three major roles were in the cartoon "Plane Crazy", in which she nearly gets run over by an airplane, "Mickey's Choo-Choo", in which she nearly gets run over by a train, and her final cartoon "The Nifty Nineties", in which she nearly gets run over by a car.
Background[]
Caroline Cow was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in the 1920s. She first appeared as an unnamed cow in the Alice Comedies short "Alice on the Farm" in 1926. She later became a recurring character in the early Mickey Mouse cartoons, often appearing as a background character or a minor antagonist. She was usually depicted as a plump, brown cow with a pink udder and a bell around her neck. She did not have a distinct personality or voice and was mostly silent or made mooing sounds.
