Cars: Lightning League is a racing game made released in 2017 to promote the third installment in the Cars franchise, Cars 3. It replaced another Cars-related game, Cars: Fast as Lightning, which was discontinued in 2016.
Generally, the player assumes the role of a car he/she plays as as he/she races across the track while avoiding obstacles, completing certain missions, and collecting currencies to upgrade his/her car. The number of stars earned during gameplay depends on how well the player performed. Along the way when completing levels, the player can unlock characters by using coins, gems, or blueprints and can also be able to level them up.
Similar to Angry Birds Go, the game features a limit how many players start the race via fuel system. After the player finishes each race, the fuel system decreases and the player can regain fuel by either waiting for a certain amount of time or using gems to speed up the recharge instantly.
