In conjunction with the release of the film Coco, the restaurant was given an overlay as part of the Halloween event in 2017, with the addition of numerous Dia de los Muertos decorations inspired by the films with a figure of Dante in his Alibrije form in the central square. On July 29, 2023, the restaurant had been officially themed.

Fuente del Oro is themed after a traditional Spanish hacienda, with adobe walls and wooden log roofs for shade and detailing. The outdoor courtyard features a central fountain and Imagineers added to the authenticity of space by softening the color on the tops of the building (that hot Mexican sun will scorch any roof) and removing pieces of plaster from the exterior walls.
