Casey at the Bat is an animated short and a segment of Make Mine Music. It was reissued as a stand-alone short on July 16, 1954.

Synopsis

The Disney version of the poem about baseball slugger Casey, and his valiant stand to try to win the game for Mudville.

Changes to this version include an extended narration of Cooney's attempt to get off base, Barrows failing to get off base by inadvertently hitting the ball back into the pitcher's mitt, Flynn getting a single due to trying to untangle his mustache from his bat and Blake getting a double due to a backfired attempt by the visiting team's catcher to set his foot on fire.

Trivia

• A close-up view of the musicians in the band reveals some of the Disney animators including four of the Nine Old Men, Ward Kimball (tubist), Frank Thomas (drummer), Ollie Johnston (trombonist), and Marc Davis (trumpeter), and producer Walt Disney (flautist).
