Catherine Élise "Cate" BlanchettAC is an Australian actress and voice actress, who came to international attention for her role as Elizabeth I of England in the 1998 biographical film Elizabeth (which she received an Academy Award nomination for) and its 2007 sequel Elizabeth: The Golden Age. She is also well known for her roles as Galadriel in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, and as Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's 2004 biographical drama film The Aviator, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and later won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Jeanette "Jasmine" Francis in Woody Allen's black comedy-drama film Blue Jasmine, and was subsequently nominated in the romantic period drama film Carol. She also voiced Hiccups mother Valka in the DreamWorks How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

For Disney, she played Jane Winslett-Richardson in the 2004 Touchstone Pictures film, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and portrayed Lady Tremaine in the 2015 Disney live-action adaptation of Cinderella. She also voiced Granmamare in the Disney English dub of Ponyo. She also played Veronica Guerin in the 2003 Touchstone Pictures film of the same name and Colonel-Doctor Irina Spalko in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. She even played Hela in the Marvel superhero film Thor: Ragnarok.
