Cerberus is a character who appears in the second half of the fifth season of Once Upon a Time. It makes a single, but important appearance in the episode "Labor of Love".
Cerberus is based on the character with the same name from the 1997 film, Hercules.

- Bone-Crushing: Just like the original character, Cerberus is able to kill its prey by crushing their bones, which is how it killed both Megara and Hercules.
History[]
Many years before the first curse, Hercules is working on his tasks to complete twelve labors so he can go to Mount Olympus to reunite with his father Zeus. When Hercules meets a younger Snow White, he helps her train to stand up to bandits while he is on earth. He reveals to her that he completed his previous labors and just has one left: Cerberus. Hercules asks Snow if she wants to join him fight Cerberus but she has to decline since she must return to her kingdom. Following this, Hercules is about to face the beast when he meets a young woman later revealed to be named Megara, running from Cerberus and he tells her to run so he can defeat it. However, Ceberus kills Hercules before doing the same to this young woman. Due to being killed by Ceberus, Hercules' soul goes to the underworld, where he resides for decades.
Many years later, a grown up Snow White learns that Hercules is in the underworld because of his unfinished business. She decides to help him move on if she can find him. Later on, Regina and Emma are in the woods when they meet Megara who Cerberus is hunting, and they take her to the Underbrooke Blanchard Loft, where she describes the beast as something that can crush people's bones. Cerberus attacks the apartment, causing everyone to leave. After finding out about Cerberus, Snow recognizes the name from her past and decides to find Hercules, knowing he can defeat the monster. Snow finds Hercules at the docs, where they reunite and she is surprised to see he is still so young and asks how he died, although he refuses to say. Snow asks Hercules to help her and her family save her daughter's boyfriend, Killian Jones, since Cerberus is guarding the dungeon that Killian is being held captive in. However, Hercules declines as Cerberus is considered impossible to defeat because he has three heads. Snow White offers to help Hercules defeat Cerberus after learning Hercules can't destroy the creature by himself.
When the group enters the tunnels, Cerberus is heard which worries Hercules who promises to rescue Killian. However, Hades, Hercules' uncle, calls the beast off and threatens Emma with Hook's life. Later in the day, Snow and Hercules find Megara again, who is running once more from Cerberus. Snow and Hercules get Megara into the Underbrooke libary, where Cerberus breaks in. Working with Megara, Snow and Hercules are able to destroy Cerberus once and for all, allowing him to complete his twelfth and final labor. Hercules rescues Megara when she starts to faint from having destroyed Cerberus and she introduces herself to him.
Later in the diner, Hercules and Megara recongise each other, having encountered each other in the past. She tells him that Cerbeus killed her after it got Hercules. Hercules apologises for failing to save Megara and she comments that he made up for it here. The two become a couple as they can now depart the Underworld since their unfinished business from defeating Cerberus, is now complete.
