The Chinese Armor is a mystical artifact featured in the Mystic Manor attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland.
History[]
Background[]
This Chinese armor was used to represent armor worn by warriors in Ancient China. This armor was one of the rare artifacts collected by Lord Henry Mystic during his journey at China[1] and is said to have existed in China in 220. When Albert opened a mysterious music box, the Chinese armor and the rest of the artifacts started coming to life; however, after Albert closed it, the armor and the rest of the artifacts were reverted to their lifeless forms in time to prevent more havoc from being caused in Mystic Manor.
Role in the attraction[]
The Chinese armor is one of the first artifacts encountered as well as the first suit of armor encountered in the attraction when the vehicles enter the Acquisitions and Cataloging room where Lord Henry Mystic was looking for Albert, who suddenly opened the Balinese Music Box. As soon as he touched the music box, the Chinese armor and the rest of the artifacts encountered inside the area start coming to life, where the armor is seen moving and eyes glowed from the hollow inside just as the vehicles proceed into the Musical Instruments room.
After Albert finally closes the music box, all the artifacts in Mystic Manor are brought to their lifeless forms with the vehicles returning back to the Acquisitions and Cataloging room. The Chinese armor and the rest of artifacts are seen again at the end of the attraction in their lifeless forms in the exact spot where they were first encountered with Henry Mystic telling Albert that he didn't touch the music box, which Albert denies, as Mystic bids the guests a farewell in touring Mystic Manor.
Trivia[]
- While no specific dynasty is mentioned in the "Mystic Manor" guide, it is said that the armor existed in the year 220, implying that this armor was the one worn by warriors during the Han Dynasty.
- Concept art for the Acquisitions and Cataloging room originally featured a suit of samurai armor where it would have been featured as one of the first artifacts at Mystic Manor[2]. However, it was replaced by a suit of Chinese armor for unknown reasons.
- Additionally in an early version of Mystic Manor, a storyboard panel featured the Chinese armor arming itself with a crossbow attempting to shoot an arrow at Albert at the end of the attraction, but the armor failed to do so after Albert closed the Balinese Music Box, reverting it back to its lifeless form.[3]
