The Big Cheese Caper is a 1991 Little Golden Book based on Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers.
Synopsis[]
The Rescue Rangers are on a crowded train with many other mice going on a trip to the World Cheese Festival. On the train, Gadget is showing Chip and Dale her drill, which can be used for putting holes in Swiss cheese, as Monterey Jack is working on his yodeling for the yodeling contest. Meanwhile, one of Fat Cat's minions is noticing Gadget's drill. Chip then sits aside Professor Girvin Gouda, who is competing and hoping to win the biggest cheese contest at the festival. The professor shows Chip a book called The Encyclopedia of Cheese Volume 1, and tells him to read it... as well as the other 19 volumes. Gouda then shows the Rescue Rangers the cheese, and they react astonished. Then the Rescue Rangers notice the smell of "Happy Tom Cat Food", leading them to Fat Cat, and making them wonder why he is on the train. Unfortunately the Rescue Rangers are unable to eavesdrop through the door.
Fat Cat is ordering his minions to steal Gouda's cheese and disguise it to look like one of his own. He reveals that the prize is a trip to Switzerland, telling his minions that he deserves the vacation. Chip and Dale decide to stay near Fat Cat, in order to wait for him in case he'd do anything suspicious. However, they don't notice anything and go to sleep.
The next morning, Gouda's cheese and Gadget's drill are gone, leading to Chip and Dale believing that Fat Cat stole the cheese and the drill. Zipper then tries looking for Fat Cat nearby, finds and exposes him.
