"Chipwrecked Shipmunks" is the thirty-sixth episode of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. It premiered on November 16, 1989, and is the twenty-third episode of the second season.

Plot

When the Rangers are shipwrecked on an island, Gadget and Chip try to find a way off the island before a hurricane hits, while Monterey Jack and Dale find treasure. The Pi-Rats then come to the island to search for the treasure that Dale and Monterey Jack found.

Trivia

• This is the second appearance of Jolly Rogers and his Pi-Rats since the series' second ever episode, "Piratsy Under the Seas".
• The episode quasi-references episodes of two other Disney Afternoon franchises, both incidentally co-written by Mark Zaslove:
  • The treasure cave on the island is located inside an ancient crocodile head sculpture atop a mountain, reminiscent of Gusto Gummi's dragon sculpture on the Deserted Island in the Adventures of the Gummi Bears episode "My Gummi Lies Over the Ocean".
  • In the very last bit of dialog, Chip mentions "gold fever", reminiscent of the condition that Scrooge McDuck suffers from in the DuckTales episode "The Treasure of the Golden Suns - Part 5: Too Much of a Gold Thing".
