"Chop Away at My Heart", also referred to as "Chop Chop Chop", is a song in the Milo Murphy's Law episode, "Secrets and Pies". It was sung by Zack Underwood when he was the lead singer in a boy band known as the Lumberzacks. After Milo's old babysitter Veronica recognizes Zack from his boy band days, Milo is curious about this, but Zack doesn't want to talk about it. Melissa, however, then pulls up the song's music video on the Internet, much to Zack's embarrassment.
A slightly modified version, titled "Saw Away at My Heart" appears in the episode "Battle of the Bands".
The song is sung again by Zack, joined this time by Baljeet Tjinder, in the crossover special "The Phineas and Ferb Effect" as a way of distracting the Pistachion prison guards.
In Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, the song is heard when the AI for the spaceship on which Candace is being held captive mishears her yelling "Stop, stop, stop!" The movie's soundtrack features the full uncut song for the first time, due to its brief appearance in the film.
Lyrics[]
I know you're pining
But every cloud has got a silver lining
The leaves are parting now the sun is shining
And you're in my arms so the planets are aligning
My heart is strong, like a tree!
And you belong, baby you belong to me
Without you, I'm tied to the ground
And if I fall, do I even make a sound?
CHORUS
Chop chop chop! Chop away at my heart!
I can feel it falling (timber!) and I will never part
I know you, you've been there from the start
So baby chop chop chop! Chop away at my heart!
And now you're grinning
When you look me in the eye, my head's spinning
If love is just a game, I think we’re winning
And we’re here right now so this feels like a beginning
I know you’re ready, you know I’m right
When I tell you my bark is always worse than my bite
When you look at me, do you see me?
Or do you only see a forest for the tree?
CHORUS
Na na na na, na na na na na na na (x4)
CHORUS (x2)
