Christina Ricci is an American actress, who is best known for her film role as Wednesday Addams in the 1991 Paramount Pictures live-action comedy film The Addams Family and its 1993 sequel, as well as Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates in the Netflix spin-off series Wednesday. She is also well-known for portraying Kathleen "Kat" Harvey in the 1995 Universal Pictures live-action film Casper and Maggie Ryan in the ABC period drama series Pan Am (2011-2012). Additionally, she played Trixie in the 2008 Warner Bros. live-action adaptation of Speed Racer, and voiced Lilly in the 2010 Lionsgate animated film Alpha and Omega, Vexy in Sony Pictures' The Smurfs 2, and Cynder in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon video game.
For Disney, she portrayed Patti Randall in the 1997 film remake of That Darn Cat, Jessica in the 1993 Touchstone Pictures film The Cemetery Club, and Hannah Davies in the ABC TV show Grey's Anatomy.
Ricci was born in Santa Monica, California, the youngest of four children of Sarah (née Murdoch) and Ralph Ricci. Her mother worked as a Ford Agency model during the 1960s and later became a real estate agent. Her father had a varied career, including jobs as a gym teacher, lawyer, drug counsellor, and primal scream therapist. Regarding her surname, Ricci has stated that she has Italian, Irish, and Scottish ancestry.
Ricci's family moved to Montclair, New Jersey, where she educationally grew up attending Edgemont Elementary School, Glenfield Middle School, Montclair High School, and Morristown-Beard School. She later attended Professional Children's School in New York City. Her three older siblings are Rafael, Dante, and Pia. Ricci's parents separated when she was a preteen. She has been vocal about her childhood in interviews, particularly her parents' divorce and turbulent relationship with her father.
