Christine Palmer is a character who appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She is an alternate version of Christine Palmer who lives on Earth-838 and aids 616 Doctor Strange in stopping the Scarlet Witch from his dimmension from invading the Multiverse.
Christine Palmer was created by Jean Thomas and Win Mortimer.
Background[]
At some point around 2016, Christine Palmer met a man named Stephen Strange and they were in a relationship, but his aragonce became too much for her as, in her words, Stephen had to "be the one holding the knife", so they broke up. However, she did support him in his efforts to return to full health after his car accident and injury. After Stephen learnt about sourcery, he became the master of the mystic arts, which Christine soon knew about. In 2018, the world was invaded by Thanos, who the Illuminati went into battle against. Christine was later informed of Strange's death, after being told he had given his life to defeat the mad titan, when in reality, the Illuminati had him executed for using the Darkhold to find a way to defeat Thanos - in which they succeeded - and Christine attended his funeral. At Strange's funeral, Christine offered to volenteer at the Baxter Building, which was the headquarters of the Illuminati.
Personality[]
This version is very similar to her 616 counterpart, as they are both headstrong, no nonsense, confident women who love their work. This Christine's appearance is slightly different to her mainstream counterpart as she has red hair instead of blonde.
Role in the film[]
When Doctor Strange and America Chavez end up in Earth-838, he meets an alternate version of Christine who works at the Baxter Building. According to 838 Christine, her universe's Stephen died after he became corrupted by the power of the Darkhold and was killed by the Illuminati. This Christine agrees to work with both Strange and Chavez in order to keep her safe from the Scarlet Witch who wants to steal Chavez's powers.
Christine and Strange end up in another universe, which is covered in bones and is falling due to this other version of Strange destroying his world after his Christine married someone else. This other variant of Doctor Strange, named Sinister Strange, became violent and depressed due to Christine being with someone else. The variant demands that 616 Strange gives him the Christine from his world and he will stop. 616 Strange says no and the two fight which results in the alternate Strange being killed by being impaled on the posts on the posts on his fence. 838 Christine stays with 616 Stephen as he is forced to dreamwalk into the corpse of an alternate version of himself that traveled to Earth-616 with Chavez.
After Wanda dies from destroying all copies of the Darkhold across the Multiverse, 616 Stephen and 838 Christine share a moment before they are sent back to their own respective universes. She tells him she wishes to see his world, but she must go home. Stephen takes this as a chance to tell Christine he loves her in every universe, which brings Christine to tears. She encourages him to face his fears and they part ways back to their own universes.
