Christopher Neal Jackson is an American actor, voice actor, and singer. He has taken part in many Broadway hits, such as In The Heights and The Lion King as Simba, as well as Hamilton, in which he stars as George Washington. In addition to Disney, he provided the singing voice for Chief Tui in Moana. He also voiced Shujaa and Kitendo in The Lion Guard. He reprised his role as George Washington in the 2020 release of a filmed performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton. Additionally, he provides the voice of Glorious Gary in the 20th Century Fox Animation series Central Park.
Born in Metropolis, Illinois, and raised in Cairo, Illinois, by his mother, he graduated from Cairo High School where he performed in plays and was encouraged to pursue a career as an actor. After graduating from high school, Jackson attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.
Jackson began his career in 1995 starring in the Off-Broadway musical Time and the Wind before making his Broadway debut in 1997 as an ensemble member and the understudy for Simba in the Original Broadway Cast of The Lion King. He later took over the role of Simba in 2000. This led to roles in Beggar's Holiday, Candide, In the Heights, Memphis, After Midnight, Holler If Ya Hear Me, Bronx Bombers, and Hamilton. He also collaborated with Miranda on his film adaptation of In the Heights and appeared in Tick, Tick... Boom!.
His television credits include Oz, Fringe, Nurse Jackie, White Collar, Bull, And Just Like That..., and The Good Wife. He also wrote music for Sesame Street and a revived production of The Electric Company.
