"Chuckle City 500" is the twenty-ninth episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on August 10, 2015.

Synopsis[]

Penn, Sashi and Boone return to Chuckle City to compete in a clown-style street race that determines who will be the next Mayor.

Plot[]

The episode starts at The Odyssey, where Penn, Sashi and Boone are looking at pictures of past missions, one of them showing Penn, as a mandrill, being given a crown made of webs by a spider queen while Sashi and Boone, also mandrills, look at him puzzled. Penn tells how they got the best jobs as part-time heroes, saying how they are always showered with glory. Boone tells Sashi how Penn is the one who gets showered with glory, which Penn hears and asks them what did they said, which the two tell him nothing. Penn starts talking about showering as Phyllis zaps them in.

The heroes get zapped into Chuckle City, the clown world they previously visited in Chuckle City. Penn realizes he is in a car, so he uses its gear stick, causing the car to expose robotic legs and dance. Boone's vehicle is a big, single wheel with the driver's seat beside it, surrounded by gumballs, which Boone eats one of them. Sashi's vehicle is a mix between a car and a whoopee cushion, able to float in the air. Sashi sprays gas in Penn's face with her vehicle and she then tells the mission; they are competing in the Chuckle City 500 and they have to prevent Rippen from winning or else he will become Chuckle City's mayor, so he can ban happiness and rename Chuckle City to Sad Clown Town. The announcer, introducing himself as Wacky Fuzz Gutty, welcomes the spectators to the Chuckle City 500 and talks about how he forgot to bring the sound effect producer, having to produce the sound effects with his mouth. Boone is eating the gumballs in his car as Penn tells him to chew less, as he can see his jaw muscles, which creeps him out. Sashi stumbles upon Soda Jerk and greets him and then she asks him tips to win Chuckle City 500, which he instead sprays her with a water hose installed in his vehicle. Rippen appears in his car, telling Penn he got the best car and that nothing can stop him, before getting splated in the face by a pie, which was shot by Principal Larry. Wacky Fuzz Gutty announces the race will start when the starting gun is shot, which the clown shoots with it, letting the racers race.

While racing, Rippen activates a tongue in his vehicle that licks the ground, leaving a puddle of salive, which Penn's vehicle jumps over. Sashi tells Penn to watch out for the giant pot, which his vehicle kicks, sending it flying before landing on Soda Jerk, trapping him. Boone, while racing, blows a bubblegum bubble and pops it, covering his seat in bubblegum and, therefore, getting his foot stuck to the pedal, leaving him unable to stop. So, he fires the emergency brake gun, allowing a clown old lady to stop his vehicle with a giant baseball glove. Penn and Sashi approaches him as he tells them his foot got stuck to the pedal, which Penn asks him how is he gonna win if he goes too fast. Sashi points out that their mission is not to make Penn win, but to make Rippen lose. Penn tells the two they together can compete and still be friends, which the two accept. The heroes wish each other good luck as the second lap starts, racing along with other racers.

While racing, Penn stops to order some banana peels from a shop owner and gives them to him as he drops them on the track. Boone's vehicle runs over the peels, causing it to tumble. Penn tells Boone it is just part of the competition, which he, annoyed, deploys an inflatable ramp from his vehicle in front of him so he can give himself a speed boost and overtake. Sashi, floating behind Penn, activates giant hands from her vehicle to grab Penn and toss him behind her. Rippen is overtaking the heroes, but his car slows down, having to spin the wind-up on the back, saying it's a terrible design flaw. Penn takes out a bird from his car, who drops an egg below Sashi covering her in yolk. Sashi then takes out a table from her vehicle and places it in front of Penn's car's feet, causing it to hurt its leg and flinch before resuming racing. Sashi drops a bunch of chattering teeth behind her, which bite Penn's car's legs, flinching him before resuming. The heroes then drive next to each other, leading them to drive off the track and land in a ball pit, letting Rippen win the second lap.

Sashi and Boone apologize to Penn for letting Rippen win, saying they shouldn't have competed with each other, but Penn tells them he can't do nothing without them and they are a team. A crane, who is an actual bird and not the vehicle, retreats the heroes' vehicles and they see they are wrecked, so they go to "Goofy Body Shop to fix and combine the vehicles into an amalgamation of these vehicles.

At the final lap, Rippen is at the front as he sees the heroes going in the race in their amalgamated vehicle before the starting gun is fired, letting the racers race. While racing, Rippen sees the heroes approaching him, so he accelerates, but, however, Sashi presses a button on their vehicle that causes it's whoopee cushion portion to fart, accelerating it and overtaking Rippen. Rippen presses a "punch-line" button that activates a pair of speakers who tell a joke, causing the car to laugh and accelerate faster. Penn tells Sashi and Boone they are carrying too much weight, so he decides to exit the vehicle, landing on the last place's car. Sashi is about to overtake Rippen, but he fires the emergency brake gun on his vehicle, leading the same clown old lady to take out a giant pie, stopping the heroes' vehicle and allowing Rippen to cross the finish line.

Rippen thinks he has won and celebrates, asking the lion to give him the trophy, but, however, the lion gives the trophy to Larry. Larry tells Ripen he won after he accidentally launched himself from his pie cannon, sending him all the way to the finish line, much to Rippen's dismay. Penn tells Sashi and Boone that they can be on the winner circle next time, which Sashi tells him defeating Rippen was enough victory. Soda Jerk crosses the finish line, still inside the pot, asking if he won. The clown monkey teasingly plays his drum, which Soda Jerk, annoyed, asks from someone to take his drumsticks out, ending the episode.
