Citrikua is a character introduced in the Magic Kingdom version of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (originally "Tropical Serenade").
History[]
Background[]
Citrikua serves as a Polynesian God of Health as well as the God of the Sunshine Pavillion. The idol of Citrikua is placed outside the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland versions of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room.
Development History[]
Citrikua is a fictional tiki god who was created to promote the Florida Orange Growers who was the sponsor of the Magic Kingdom's Sunshine Pavilion which included the Enchanted Tiki Room attraction (formerly "Tropical Serenade") and Sunshine Tree Terrace. His name was derived from the word "Citrus" in reference to the Florida Orange Growers sponsor; however, his name does not include the "S" sound in Māori language as it does not exist in Polynesian dialect.
Appearances[]
Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room[]
In the Magic Kingdom version of the attraction (as well as the former version in Tokyo Disneyland), Citrikua is seen during the pre-show sequence where a waterfall opens to reveal a chamber of the tiki god as well as Clyde & Claude telling their story of how they found the Enchanted Tiki Room as well as their adventures across Adventureland. As the toucans talk, Citrikua moves his head just before the doors open for the show to begin. As the doors open for show time, the waterfall containing Citrikua inside suddenly closes.
The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management)[]
The former overlay of the attraction renames the toucan duo "Clyde & Claude" as "William and Morris", a pair of toucans who worked for Hollywood who sold the Enchanted Tiki Room to Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King. Like in the original overlay during the conversation between the toucans, the doors open for show time; the waterfall containing Citrikua inside suddenly closes.
The Enchanted Tiki Room: Get the Fever![]
In the formey overlay at Tokyo Disneyland, the rapping duo of toucans, known as "2-Can", is shown to be perched on Citrikua who holds a boombox. Throughout the rapping sequence, the doors open for show time; the waterfall containing Citrikua inside suddenly closes. However, as of the Stitch Presents Aloha e Komo Mai! revamp, the pre-show instead was replaced by a narration instead of the waterfall scene featuring the toucans and Citrikua.
Trivia[]
- Not counting characters from other overlays of "The Enchanted Tiki Room", Citrikua is one of the few characters from the original overlay of "The Enchanted Tiki Room" who does not appear in the Disneyland version of the attraction.
