Coach Daniel "Dan" is a character of the 2025 Disney•Pixar long-form animated series, Win or Lose. He is the coach of the softball team known as The Pickles and the father of Laurie and Paula. He is also the former husband of Carole and is the main protagonist of "Home".
Background[]
Dan was originally married to a woman named Carole where they had a daughter, Paula and eventually another named Laurie. But sometime before the events of the show, Dan and Carole got divorced, though the reason why is unknown. Since then, he had been living on his own in a motel room.
Personality[]
Dan is shown to be very caring to the kids he is coaching, encouraging them to do their best when playing softball. While he does understand that some members of the team do better than others, he tries to make the other kids feel equal. However, he is often neglectful of his daughter Laurie and her feelings. He doesn't notice that she is feeling anxious or that she needs some encouragement and attention from him. But he is shown to care for and love her, even though he is aware of her poor softball skills. Later in the first episode, he's the one who makes Laurie feel confident. In "Home", he is shown to have anger repression issues and lets his negative emotions get the better of him, which are represented by his body inflating. These issues come to a head at the championship game when he floats over the field like a blimp due to releasing his bottled up stress and anger.

- He does not seem to be completely over his ex-wife, which is demonstrated in the first episode, when he is using his secret language with Laurie, he asks her if her mother is "seeing anyone?".
