The Cock o' the Walk is the titular main antagonist from the 1935 Silly Symphony animated short.

Background[]

Personality[]

The Cock o' the Walk is a champion prize-fighting rooster who was greeted as a welcome visitor in the barnyard to everyone whom he meets. In spite of being ranked as the champion boxer, he is shown to do the carioca dance to a girl whom he finds attractive like Prunella Pullet. In spite of this, he is shown to have a dislike to those who get in his lover's way like when Hick Rooster attempted to get Prunella Pullet away from him. Additionally, he is shown to be fearful when Hick Rooster began to finish him off, causing the champ to be knocked onto the world's champion trophy, resulting him to be defeated during the match.

Appearances[]

Cock o' the Walk[]

The Cock o' the Walk is first seen in a parade honoring him while the crowd cheers for his popularity in winning several trophies during the past boxing matches. Just as the Cock o' the Walk is seen showing his biceps, a crowd of hens approaches him, as they react in awe. Amongst one of the hens seeing him is a young hen, Prunella Pullet, awed to see the champion. The Cock o' the Walk then attracts Prunella's attention while the other hens gossip about this, but not before the champ takes Prunella onto the ring. As he dances with her together in a carioca number, everyone is attracted to the carioca dance.

After the dance between the champ and Prunella, Hick Rooster becomes jealous that he is separated from his girlfriend, so he gets into the ring to face the Cock o' the Walk, leading in a battle between Hick and the champ. Just as the Cock o' the Walk punches Hick onto the ropes of the boxing ring, the champ continues to chase him while Prunella cheers him on. However, Prunella looks at a family photo of Cock o' the Walk and his family - consisting of his wife and a group of hatchlings, just as she realizes that he is not part of Prunella's family. This leads Prunella to encourage Hick to fight and beat the champ. To Hick's optimism, he was able to defeat the Cock o' the Walk, punching him and tossing him onto the world's champion trophy, which Prunella becomes impressed that he was able to defeat the champ, just before the two fall in love together.
