"Coney Island, Baby!" is the fourteenth episode of the Disney Channel and Marvel Animation series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
Synopsis[]
Lunella must confront her childhood fear, the Coney Island Funhouse, to save Mimi from The Beyonder.
Plot[]
Lunella proudly announces she is fearless when going up against the villain Nox. After defeating her, she spends some time at home with Casey, only for Mimi to barge in and announce that they are going to Coney Island the next day. Lunella confides in Casey that when she was five-years-old, she accidentally got separated from Mimi and wound up at a funhouse where the clown animatronics nearly scared her to death. Mimi came in and rescued her, but since then, she has become traumatized of Coney Island and all its attractions. Casey tells Lunella that she is older now and therefore should be over it. Lunella agrees and decides to go to Coney Island tomorrow.
The next day, Lunella is still afraid, but tries to hide it from Mimi and Casey who are having too much fun. Lunella spots the Beyonder who is in the process of learning about food and accidentally gets his attention. He becomes interested in the concept of fear when he notices that Lunella is perspiring. Wanting to learn more about it, he proceeds to use his abilities to alter the park, forcing Lunella to save people from the rides, including Casey and Mimi. Lunella calls Devil to come and help who, throughout the episode, struggles to reach Coney Island as he is afraid of getting stung by jellyfish. Beyonder realizes that Lunella's greatest fear is losing her loved ones and hides Mimi in the park, giving her 10 minutes to find her.
Lunella searches through a sinister version of the park, as she and Casey are chased by hideous creatures. Devil finally arrives and Lunella realizes that despite his fear of jellyfish, he powered through. She decides to do the same and confront Beyonder as herself rather than Moon Girl. Casey and Devil blare music on the sound speakers as Lunella finally conquers her fear of the funhouse and rescues Mimi. Beyonder congratulates her before leaving. Things return to normal as Mimi has no recollection of what happened other than that someone was giving her a tour. As Lunella and Casey return to the rides, Mimi thanks the Beyonder for the tour, only for Beyonder to warn her that something is coming for her.
