Trivia[]
- The original books were set in England, as the author was English.
- Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Kirsten Dunst, Katie Holmes, Amanda Bynes, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lindsay Lohan were all considered for Rebecca Bloomwood. Witherspoon specifically turned it down because she felt it was too similar to her role in Legally Blond.
- Kristin Scott Thomas did not enjoy her time filming this movie. Ironically, in the book, Rebecca says she wishes she was someone cool like Kristin Scott Thomas.
- The technical term for "shopaholic" is "oniomania".
- Lynn Redgrave's final live-action film role. She would lend her voice to the animated film My Dog Tulip, which was her true final film, before her death.
- John Goodman and Wendie Malick both lent their voices in The Emperor's New Groove.
- John Lithgow turned down the role of Edgar West twice before accepting it. Fred Armisen was approached for the role, but when Lithgow finally accepted, the part of Ryan Koenig was written for Armisen.
