Crispin Flavius is a supporting character featured in the 2020 Disney+ original film Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made. He is a parking officer who serves as Patty Failure's boyfriend.
Background[]
Crispin serves as a meter man who works at the police department in Portland, Oregon. Unlike any typical parking officer, Crispin is shown to have a kind personality to Patty Failure whom the latter dates with, making Crispin his boyfriend. Despite his kind and friendly personality, he is shown to have a dislike to people who don't trust normal people, which hurts his feelings. Furthermore, Crispin showed a supportive personality to Timmy Failure after he found out of Timmy's heroic plans to change the world, such as his plan to save Total from the zoo as well as delivering a speech during the Animal Awareness rally at Cathedral Park so that he coils become professional.
Role in the film[]
Crispin is first seen waiting outside Timmy Failure house holding a box of chocolates while Patty tells him to open the door. Just as Timmy opens the door, Crispin introduces himself to him. During the conversation, he explains that he has amnesia with names. After showing Timmy the box of chocolates he bought for Patty, he also shows him a lucky rabbit's foot for his collection, which Timmy rejects so he could observe Animal Awareness Month. The conversation becomes interrupted when Patty tells her son of what took him so long to let him in the house just as Timmy allows him to enter.
During dinner with Patty, Crispin shares his story of the reason why he became a meter maid was so that he could change people's perceptions by turning negative into positive. He also offers Timmy that he could show him around the precinct, which Timmy rejects, telling him that he has an imaginary friend as a partner, a polar bear named "Total" which he might plan on introducing Crispin to him sometime. Crispin later appears watching a movie with Patty at a movie theater where she reacts sadly to a sad scene she is watching in a flashback scene during Timmy's conversation with Mr. Jenkins.
Timmy approaches Crispin who is offering him to give him a ride home and on his way to school, he asks him if he went bowling before, which Timmy finds no interest in this. He explains to Timmy that he really likes his mother which Crispin dates with, as well as explaining that when someone opens up like that, then he could thank him for sharing, which Timmy finds no interest in normal people like his mother, which suddenly insults him just before Timmy returns home.
Furthermore, Timmy later approaches Crispin after Corrina tricked him by giving him an owl-shaped cookie with a listening device placed on it where he gives him an urgent alert that he must find Total and rescue him from the zoo just before Crispin accepts Timmy's trust. As Crispin and Timmy arrive at the entrance of the Oregon Zoo, Crispin asks the attendant to know where the polar bears are, which he tells him that they are off exhibit because the polar bear exhibit is under renovations just before Timmy sneaks into the polar bear exhibit where he finally reunite with him. Furthermore, Crispin is asking a group of officers outside the entrance to the Great Northwest section of the zoo about trying to find Timmy who revealed that he rescued Total from the zoo.
Timmy approaches Crispin again who tells him that he is here for professional matters, handing him a flyer showing a rally for Animal Awareness Month at Cathedral Park, just as he also reveals to Timmy that he stumbled upon something that may be related to Corrina. Later at an inventory, Crispin shows Timmy the Failure Mobile which was illegally parked at the inventory just as Timmy narrates about how he describes Stumptown. Furthermore, Crispin is later seen attending the presentation spoken by Timmy Failure, which Crispin and the other attendees are all impressed by his speech in giving an impact to the world.
Trivia[]
- Kyle Bornheimer, who portrayed Crispin in the film, would later voice Wilden Lightfoot in the Pixar animated feature film Onward, one month after Timmy Failure was released on Disney+. Both, Timmy Failure and Onward were released in the same year.
- During the part where Crispin and Patty are watching a movie in a flashback, the music heard is "Married Life" from the 2009 film Up, which can hint that this is the movie that they are watching.
