Dagonet is a supporting character of the 2004 Touchstone Pictures film King Arthur, which sought to tell a historically accurate version of the legend of Arthur and his knights.

Background[]

Personality[]

Dagonet is an intimidating and harsh looking person. However, he is actually a very friendly and sociable person who has a fondness for his fellow man and children. He is probably the bravest and most self-sacrificing of the knights and is not afraid to confront danger head on, regardless of the odds. He has a close kinship with Bors, though between the two of them, Dagonet is much more reserved. He also thinks of the defenseless more and puts their lives above anyone's else, including his own.

Trivia[]

  • In usual legends, Dagonet is actually Arthur's court jester. Older stories had him portrayed as a cowardly knight who gets Lancelot in trouble. Other stories had him a grand knight who went mad after the love of his life was taken away, and sometimes he is depicted as being a dumb commoner who Arthur knighted as a joke and to humor the other knights. Later legends have Dagonet as a more positive and heroic knight who was awarded knighthood due to his bravery and humor, using it to his advantage to take down enemies.
