Daniel M. Troob, known as Danny Troob, is an American arranger, orchestrator, musician, and composer, who worked on many Disney productions ranging from film and theatre.
Troob was born in 1949 and made his debut at Carnegie Hall at age 12 with an orchestral work orchestrated by himself and conducted by Leopold Stokowski. He graduated in 1966 from Forest Hills High School in Forest Hills, Queens, New York and majored in Music at Harvard (Class of 1970). He began his career on and off Broadway as an orchestrator and arranger for shows, like Side by Side by Sondheim, Pacific Overtures, Goodtime Charley, Bring Back Birdie, Footloose, The 101 Dalmatians Musical, Shrek The Musical, and Rodgers + Hammerstien's Cinderella were he won a Drama Desk Award. He also worked on revivals of Little Shop of Horrors, The Pajama Game, Gypsy, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Along with fellow associates Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and David Friedman, Troob worked on Disney Renaissance films, like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Outside of Disney, he contributed to Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Shining Through, Last Action Hero, Cousin Bette, and The Producers.
