David "Dave" Benson Phillips is an English entertainer and children's television presenter, known for presenting many children's programmes, such as the popular BBC game show Get Your Own Back (1991-2004) which he now tours with around the UK, Fun Song Factory (1994-1999), and most notably, the UK version of Playhouse Disney (1998-2006).

Involvement with Disney[]

Dave's first role with Disney was presenting a Disney-produced block/game show Wake Up in the Wild Room for GMTV. The show had features that most children's game shows of the time had, mostly stuff recycled from his fellow CBBC game show Get Your Own Back.

Beginning in 1998, Dave appeared on Disney Channel UK's Under-Fives block mostly in segments featuring him singing songs. By then, he began presenting Bite Size, a children's cookery series. He co-presented with Karl Wooley and Sophie Alldred until becoming the sole-presenter in 1999, when it became a strand on the UK version of Playhouse Disney. On the series, he was known as Deep-Fried Dave.

In 1999, Dave was automatically chosen by Walt Disney Television International to be the male presenter for Playhouse Disney UK, and he personally chose Alex Lovell to become his co-host. He was referred to as Big Dave on the network, but still often used his normal name.

In 2002, he took-over the voice for Victoria Sponge before the Birthday Segments were removed in 2003.

In 2004, he began presenting the nighttime block PJ's Bedtime with new presenter Olivia Bonnicci.

In late August 2006, he, Alex, and Olivia were all made redundant from the channel, due to budget cuts and the removal of similar live-presentation roles happening on other UK children's channels at the time.

By that time, the only sign of Dave appearing on Playhouse Disney again was occasional repeats of Bite Size until May 2008, when the programme was axed.
