Picking up shortly after the events of Descendants: The Rise of Red, this next chapter explores what "happily ever after" is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures. An unexpected villain attempts to harness the magic of Wonderland for their own gain when Wonderland plays host to Auradon's Kingdom Cup Games. Red and Chloe must fight the villain to save Wonderland while grappling with the consequences of changing the past.
On February 25, 2025, Disney Branded Television announced a new installment in the Descendants franchise, with an official title being unveiled later on.[1] Kimmy Gatewood is set to direct, with a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer.[1] Executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh are also returning, joined by Gatewood.[1] Emilio Dosal will serve as the choreographer.[1] The film's working title is For The Win.[6]
On May 6, 2025, the title was announced as Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.[7]
On March 5, 2025, Deadline reported that Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis had joined the cast.[2]
On May 6, 2025, Disney Branded Television announced that Brandy and Rita Ora would be reprising their roles as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts. They would also be returning with Paolo Montalban as King Charming and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, making Paxson the only actor to appear in all five Descendants films.[3]

This new installment breaks a 30-year record for the Disney Channel's DCOM catalog with Descendants having the most installments in any DCOM franchise with five movies, breaking the record equalized by Halloweentown, High School Musical, and Zombies with four entries each.
The film revolves around the butterfly effect, and Red and Chloe must integrate into the new timeline unintentionally created, forming new places and people which never existed before.
In this new timeline, Wonderland has joined Auradon, with the Rabbit Hole fully open.
The storyline of the original trilogy will now be slightly different, with a few characters erased and/or replaced.
Red now has a sister called Pink, who seems to be closer to and more like their mother.
