"Desserter Mystery" is the first segment of the thirty-third episode of Vampirina. It premiered on April 12, 2019 alongside "Mirror Mirror", and is the first segment of the eighth episode in the second season.
Plot[]
Vampirina, Demi, and Chef Remy Bones finish making the cake for Nanpire's nine hundred and ninety-fifth birthday, and Vampirina and Bones put it in a gift. The Hauntleys are then ready to go to Spookelton Castle for the party. After Wolfie tries to get the cake, Oxana decides to put him in a crate while the Hauntleys are away, and Dr. Paquette will check on him later. Oxana and Boris state that they haven't had luck with Wolfie and Nanpire's birthdays. Boris, Demi, and Gregoria show some examples about what happened at past birthdays.
Once Wolfie is put in his crate, the Hauntleys head to Spookelton Castle for the party, and Nanpire and Grandpop greet them. Vampirina and Demi tell Nanpire why Wolfie is left at home. The Hauntleys are then ready to play party games after Vampirina places the cake in the kitchen. They play Transylvanian checkers, followed by pin the arm on the zombie. As Demi is about to put the arm on Gregoria, the lights go out. Nanpire and Grandpop then decide to go to the spook-generator and reset the power. Oxana and Boris will find candles while Demi, Gregoria, and Vampirina get some snacks from the kitchen.
When the lights go back on, Vampirina finds Nanpire's cake missing. The Hauntleys decide to solve the mystery, and Demi dons his detective's clothes. Oxana and Boris will keep Nanpire busy while Vampirina, Demi, and Gregoria find the cake. Vampirina and Demi find birthday candles that lead to the cake. They soon lose the trail, and after Vampirina mentions it, Demi decides that they need witnesses who might've seen some suspicious activity. An armor named Kevin states he heard something suspicious a few minutes ago. Vampirina, Demi, and Gregoria find a door that leads outside, but they find nothing.
Demi then finds a piece of the cake box and footprints that lead to the cake. Vampirina, Demi, and Gregoria see that the footprints lead to the dungeon. Once there, Demi decides to be the flashlight, as he glows. After following the crumbs, Vampirina, Demi, and Gregoria find Wolfie as the culprit. Demi assumes that Wolfie used a teleportation spell. Vampirina and Gregoria conclude that Wolfie must've gotten inside Vampirina's backpack before the Hauntleys left for Transylvania.
Nanpire is happy Wolfie is safe and sound, and Oxana let Dr. Paquette know that he won't worry about where Wolfie is. Although the cake was ruined, Nanpire states that she doesn't need a cake, as after nine hundred and ninety-five birthdays, the only thing she needs is Vampirina as a perfect gift every year. Nanpire and Grandpop are happy that the entire Hauntley family is here to celebrate. They then decide to play a game of Transylvanian trivia. Soon afterwards, Wolfie returns with Nanpire's birthday wand from last year. Vampirina assumes that Wolfie buried it in the garden, and then unburied it. Bones then arrives with the cake, having heard everything Oxana said. Vampirina and Nanpire blow the candles, and the Hauntleys wish Nanpire a happy birthday. Wolfie then makes off with the cake once again.
