"Dial B for Butt" is the second segment of the twenty-eighth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.

Synopsis[]

Kiff and her mom receive an ominous butt dial.

Plot[]

While having tea with Kiff at the Plaza, Beryl receives a phone call from an unknown caller. Upon answering, Beryl hears nothing but background noise and realizes that she has been butt dialed. Instead of hanging up, Beryl continues to eavesdrop on the call with Kiff. After half an hour, they begin to hear talking on the other line. A female voice seemingly mentions Beryl's boss Dean Kim, while a male voice talks about needing to create a diversion, then makes a garbled statement which appears to mention "funds" and "scholars".

Kiff and Beryl keep listening in on the call while spending quality time together around Table Town, but they hear nothing but static. Kiff then spots an undercover FBI (Federal Bungalow of Investigation) van parked on the street and asks the agents inside for permission to use their high-tech headphones. The agents notice Kiff holding a takeout bag from the Plaza and agree to let Kiff and Beryl borrow their headphones while they go to the Plaza for tea. Monitoring the call inside the van, Kiff and Beryl eventually hear the male voice from earlier apparently having a discussion about acquiring and destroying Pegasus Field. He then mentions "18 holes", which Kiff assumes refers to the 18 holes in a golf course. Beryl surmises that Dean Kim is diverting scholarship funds to buy the land rights to Pegasus Field and turn it into a golf course.

At Table Town City Hall, Kiff and Beryl get Glarbin to designate Pegasus Field as a protected landmark, preventing it from being sold away. Immediately afterwards, the male caller is heard angrily declaring that he and his associates "have no choice but to take out the little green fella from the hall". Fearing that Glarbin could be in danger, Kiff and Beryl take him to the Table Town Library and hide him in the hush room. The caller is then heard saying that as his group's plan has been foiled, they will instead destroy the entire city. Beryl decides that the caller has to be dealt with face to face, while Glarbin gives her and Kiff access to all of Table Town's resources to stop the caller.

Accompanied by Kiff and Beryl, the FBI raid Dean Kim's boardroom meeting at Table Town University just as he and his colleagues are about to leave to play some golf. Dean Kim professes his innocence and says that he cannot be the caller because his phone is being repaired, which is proven true when the caller continues talking. The FBI trace the call to a cave in the Outskorts and raid the cave with the others. The butt dialer is revealed to be Reggie, who is playing a Star Star Throne Quest role-playing game there with his RPG club.

Reggie explains that he has been speaking in character as his RPG persona, "Admiral Hardwick of the Astronomical Alliance", the entire time, hence the caller's much deeper voice. The female voice on the call was Liz K., who was actually addressing her fellow club members Dee and Kim. The club are role playing as space adventurers, and in their game, they had to create a diversion in order to intercept an enemy scholar on their spaceship; rather than "funds", Reggie said that the diversion would be "fun". Furthermore, they acquired a nuclear device to destroy an asteroid field near the Pegasus constellation, and their spaceship was left with 18 holes after being struck by asteroids. The "little green fella from the hall" is indeed Glarbin, whom the club members were considering kicking out of the club due to his absence that day, as they take attendance seriously.

Beryl apologizes for the trouble she and Kiff caused, though the FBI agents admit that they enjoyed their action-filled day. Hearing a noise outside, everyone leaves the cave and sees fireworks in the sky, as the confiscated fireworks in the back of the FBI van have exploded. Kiff asks Dean Kim not to fire Beryl, to which he replies that he would never fire her (and cannot, because she has tenure). Martin arrives at the scene and everyone enjoys the fireworks together, while the RPG club invite two of the FBI agents to play with them.
