"Diggers Split Up" is the second segment of the forty-fourth episode of Recess.
Synopsis[]
The diggers have a fight and split up. Can the gang get them back together?
Plot[]
The Recess Gang happily watch over the playground and comment on how everyone is perfectly where they are. Shortly afterwards, the Diggers suddenly get into an argument that ends with Digger Dave deciding to leave Digger Sam. The Gang is surprised by this, but come to the conclusion that things will go back to normal the next day. Instead, they find that Digger Dave, now simply going by Dave, has fashioned himself as a cool, stylish kid and tries to be part of their group. However, Dave comes off as bossy and inconsiderate of everyone and Digger Sam continues to dig constantly in random areas, but without any real purpose.
The Gang realize that the Diggers cannot function without the other and try to find a way to reunite the two of them. After several failed attempts, they convince Dave that Digger Sam was caught in a cave-in and he hurries to rescue his friend. When he learns that Sam is fine, Dave admits that he misses him and that it is no fun without him while Sam admits that he has felt purposeless without him. The two make amends with Dave agreeing to be less bossy and they immediately resume their digging habit. The Recess Gang happily resume their belief that everything is as it should be.

Trivia[]
- This episode reveals that the Diggers are not brothers, but are just identical look-alikes. Ironically, the Japanese dub of the series sets them as twin brothers.
