"Dirty Rotten Diapers" is the fifty-first episode of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. It premiered on February 19, 1990, and is the thirty-eighth episode of the second season.
Plot[]
Gadget decides to adopt a policy of non-violence for the team, which is immediately put to the test as the Rangers investigate a dwarf posing as a baby to rob the homes of rich, childless couples.
Cast[]
- Corey Burton as Dale, Zipper, Harold
- Victoria Carroll as Pomona, Alice, Radio Voice
- Peter Cullen as Mr. Hancock, Officer Kirby
- Jim Cummings as Monterey Jack, Second Dad, Baby Thaddeus, Sergeant Spinelli
- Tress MacNeille as Chip, Gadget Hackwrench, Mrs. Hancock
- Russi Taylor as Monrovia, Second Mom
Censorship[]
- On later re-runs of the episode on Toon Disney (later Disney XD), Gadget's lines "Let's shake that baby 'til he rattles!" is cut, due to concerns of this line being mistaken for encouraging child abuse (although oddly enough, for some reason Gadget's similar line "Trash the Brat!" isn't edited).[1]
- On the DVD release, Gadget's lines "Let's shake that baby 'til he rattles!" and "Trash the Brat!" are redubbed as "Let's shake that crook 'til he rattles" and "Trash the bum!" respectively for this very same reason. [2]
- These lines are however kept unedited in the HD remasters of the episode on Blu-Ray and on Disney+ streaming service[3][4].
Trivia[]
- Baby Thaddeus, the main antagonist of this episode, is very similar to Babyface Finster from Looney Tunes, whom in return is a parody of the real-life notorious bank robber Baby Face Nelson, as they're both dwarf robbers with infant-like appearances that disguise themselves as babies in order to commit their robbery crimes, hence their names.
- He is also loosely based on Baby Herman from the 1988 Touchstone Pictures and Amblin Entertainment film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit who is really an adult with dwarfism playing a role of baby while filming Maroon Cartoons shorts with his co-star, Roger Rabbit.
- Dale's and Gadget's disguises are a reference to and based on Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy from the classic children's story book series.
- The title is a reference to the film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
