Disney's Party Express was a street show/parade that ran in Tokyo Disneyland from January to May in 2001 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney, that paid tribute to his love for steam locomotives.
Disney's Party Express is a street show consists of six colored trains, consisting of a locomotive, five carriages and a caboose.
Each of the trains are hosted by a Sensational Six character (apart from Winnie the Pooh), who rides in the middle carriage, and a co-host, who rides in the caboose. Both the locomotive and caboose feature 2 large balloons of the train hosts.
Show Mode[]
Pre-Show[]
The show begins with the performers teaching the guests how to do the different train moves while an announcer tells them how to do it in English and Japanese.
First, guests are tought how to do "The Train-Sta", where they must move around their arms like a train in a slow and fast matter, then they wave their hands and blow like a whistle.
The next step is "The Railroad Crossing", where guests shake their fingers and then shake all around.
Then, guests know how to do "The Smoke-Sta", where they move arms around in a fast position, one at a time.
Finally, guests must "Jump Across Tivers and Canyons"/"Go Up and Over", where they jump and shake fast, then pose.
After the move, the announcer tells the guests to form a line and dance clockwise around the plaza when the trains stop.
Parade Mode[]
Each train appears seperately from each other when they head into the plaza. The dancers then join their respective color train. The train hosts (Mickey, Daisy, Goofy, Pooh, Minnie and Donald) will speak out different lines in Japanese. The Disney's Party Express Theme plays in this mode.
Show Mode[]
Once the trains reach the plaza, they stop and the party soon begins. The Dancers then begin to send park guests out, who dance around the plaza with the performers as they perform the train moves set to samples of different Disney songs:
Jump Across Rivers and Canyons/Go Up and Over - Be Our Guest
Once the first round of the "Railroad Crossing" is done, the trains begin to circle round the plaza. The music repeats three times and then the trains go back to their positions when they previously stopped.
After a "comin' for home" finale, performers throw Mickey-shape confetti followed immediately with confetti cannons hidden inside the funnels of the locomotives and caboose chimneys shooting out Mickey-shape confetti onto the audience (this feature was removed near the end of its run).
After the finale, the trains return back to their original positions and leave the plaza, ending the show.
Character Trains[]
Minnie's Train[]
Minnie's character train consists of characters seen in Fantasyland.
The balloon concept was used in the Party Gras Parade which had its run in Tokyo Disneyland as well, but that was obviously not a train parade and the balloons were taller.
This marks the final Tokyo Disneyland appearance of Launchpad McQuack. Afterwards, he does not meet and greet guests.
On some occasions, Aurora and Phillip and Belle and Lumiere switch places in Minnie and Pooh's train cars.
