Disney: The First 100 Years is a book written by Dave Smith and Steven Clark, documenting the history of Walt Disney's lifetime and the company he founded. Contrary to the title, it was published in the year that would've been Walt's 98th birthday, 1999.

The book is divided into four chapters, each one covering a quarter-century of the 98 years. At the end of the last chapter, there is a five-page section devoted to Disney's plans for "2000 and beyond". Of particular note in that section, The Emperor's New Groove and An Extremely Goofy Movie are referred to by their respective working titles, Kingdom of the Sun and Another Goofy Movie. The then-upcoming movies The Tigger Movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Recess: School's Out, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, all of which were not named at the time of the book's publication, are also vaguely mentioned (with pictures from The Tigger Movie and Scamp's Adventure even being used). The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie is also mentioned, then slated as a direct-to-video film.

An updated edition was published in 2003, with the last chapter updated to include sections about most of the company's output from 2000 through 2002.

  • On page 167, a screenshot from the opening scene of The Lion King is given the caption "Rafiki holds baby Simba while Mufasa and Nala smile proudly," despite the lioness in the picture clearly being Simba's mother, Sarabi, and not Nala.
