Trivia[]
- The show featured the characters singing the songs from the movie, unlike the movie where the songs were all performed by Randy Newman.
- This show marked the first physical appearance of Mrs. Potato Head, who would eventually appear as a new character in Toy Story 2.
- Rex and Rocky Gibraltar also get female companions not seen in the original film. Rocky's companion, named "Rockette", has no lines and is just used as his skating partner. Rex's female companion is one of Andy's Christmas presents, she is the opposite of Rex's "gentle, little" thought of her, although they do kiss later on during the finale number.
- The skater who portrayed as Woody said in an interview, as a kid he had never played with toys, either never played cowboys and Indians. Because he was too busy skating.
- Rex accidentally dropped the baby monitor and Woody puts the batteries back in place was written out.
- Danny Elfman's score from The Nightmare Before Christmas was part of the Mutant Toys' theme in Sid's room scene.
- Babyface, Legs, Ducky, and Roller Bob are the only Mutant Toys appear in the show, and some other more Mutant Toys weren't part of the movie.
- Woody's hat doesn't come off for the entire show.
- According to the Program Book, Woody and Buzz were originally going to be masked characters and Buzz was going to have a helmet in the early rehearsal. These were never used on public performances and were only ever used for promotional pictures.
- However when the show went out on tour for the third time in 1998, Buzz became a masked character and would remain so for the remainder of the show's lifespan.
- Sid using the magnifying glass to catch the sun burning Woody's forehead is written out. The tune can be heard where Woody and Buzz were trapped in Sid's room, starting from beginning of Act 2.
- The music used for Andy's version of "You've Got a Friend in Me", would later be reused for future Disney On Ice shows that featured the Toy Story characters.
- Woody's doodle pad is written out for the staff meeting.
- Buzz's wings were opened 4 times in the original film and seen in the TV Commercial at Sid’s house. In the ice show, Buzz's wings were opened 2 times only in his first scene flying in Andy’s room and the last scene where he and Woody were flying together. Instead of clicking the red button on his suit, it sprung out with the tabs on his backpack.
- Buzz Lightyear's flying scene in Andy's room is different than the movie. Buzz swings from a giant baseball to a trampoline, and then he bounces over a stack of alphabet blocks and gets a ride on a toy airplane. He then jumps onto a firetruck ladder and climbs up back onto Andy's bed.
- The scene where Buzz and Woody are stuck inside the claw machine was later featured in the first act of Disney On Ice: Toy Story 3.
- A Dinoco tanker truck doesn't appear in the show where Woody and Buzz were lost toys and having an argument.
- Often when Woody comes into contact with Buzz (e.g. touching), metal-like sounds are heard. This gives the impression that Buzz is a metallic figure, despite the fact he is actually plastic.
- Buzz's WILHELM SCREAM, where he accidentally fall out Andy's window was written out.
- Lenny's costume has no pupils.
- Buzz's voice simulator is written out. (Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue! and There's a secret mission in uncharted space. Let's go!) And he has no laser sound system.
- Technically, Woody helps Sid get him and Buzz out of the claw machine, as he has to hook himself and the Buzz performer to a safety rope that brings them upwards with the claw (which doesn't actually grab them).
- In the original film, Woody pep talks Buzz and reminds him that he isn't an ordinary toy after Buzz was already strapped to the rocket. These events are flipped around in this show, as Buzz gets strapped after Woody talks to him.
- Magic Ball is written out of the show.
- R.C. only appears in 2 scenes of the show unlike the movie. Chasing after Buzz in Andy's room and Moving Chase.
- Mrs Nesbit was written out.
- In the show. It's unknown if Woody ever went to the closet where he found the Christmas lights, but in the movie he was hiding from Scud, after his pull string got stuck in the staircase which didn't happen.
- Hannah doesn't appear in the show. In Sid's last scene. It's likely that he told Hannah the toys are alive after Woody and the Mutant Toys teach him a lesson when he ran back home.
- The chase back to the other toys is revised in this version.
- The moving truck is entirely written out; the group of toys are instead stationed on the back of Andy's family van. Scud is also written entirely out of the show.
- Woody and Buzz find R.C. forgotten on the road, rather than R.C. getting pulled out of the moving truck by Woody.
- In the movie, R.C.'s out of control driving was caused by the toys still being hostile to Woody as he was controlling R.C. In the ice show, Woody's movement is more precarious while riding R.C., which doesn't happen as he rides R.C. in the film.
- Additional background toys from the movie that appear in the show are two Troll Dolls, Mr. Mike (a prop), an airplane-like figurine, and two Tikes (performed in a puppet manner) on a firetruck that appears during the birthday present scene.
- In the show, Mrs. Davis is voiced by Tress MacNeille instead of Laurie Metcalf.
- A remix of the Cantina Band song from Star Wars is used during the aliens' dance.
- The theme to Jurassic Park plays when Rex meets his female companion.
