Doctor Strange (real name Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange) is a superhero who appears in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and is voiced by Robin Atkin Downes.
Doctor Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Background[]
Sometime in 2015, Stephen Strange was a medical surgeon but got into a car accident that caused him to leave his job and for his hands to never be used the same way again. Desperate for a solution, he visited Kamar Taj where he learnt how to use his hands for a new purpose; magic. During this time, he became a famous sorcerer and became an official member of the Mystic Arts, gaining access to the time stone and cloak of levitation.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Magic: As a sorcerer, Stephen is extremely powerful, after months of study and practice under the tutelage of the Ancient One, Steve excels; becoming an exceptionally powerful sorcerer.
- Eldritch Magic Manipulation: Stephen is able to create, shape, and manipulate Eldritch Magic.
- Teleportation: By using a Sling Ring, Stephen is able to open a fiery portal to another location; gaining the ability to across both the physical world and the dimensional Multiverse.
- Interdimensional Travel: By using a Sling Ring, Stephen can travel between different dimensions and universes, crossing over different planes of existence or traveling across various forms of reality.
- Astral Projection: Stephen is capable of separating his astral spirit from his body, gaining access to the Astral Dimension; he can also make his spirit from visible to other individual(s), if he chooses to.
- Chronokinesis: By using the Eye of Agamotto, Stephen is able to control the flow of time, be it on a small or massive scale, notably to turn back something to a previous state.
- Invisibility: Stephen seems to have the ability to turn invisible as he was able to phase through the symbiote when the creature attempted to attack him.
Role in the series[]
Doctor Strange debuts in the very first episode, "Amazing Fantasy", where he arrives in New York City, at Midtown High of Science and Technology, where Peter Parker is due to start freshman year. Strange arrives through a portal with the symbiote, which attacks Nico Minoru, Peter and other students before destroying the school. Stephen realizes he isn't meant to be here and travels back through the portal, where a radioactive spider bites Peter, giving him superpowers.
Doctor Strange returns in the season one finale, "If This Be My Destiny...", where he arrives at Norman Osborn's warehouse, where Peter is, believing Osborn is creating dangerous tech, which he denies. The symbiotethen arrives, causing everyone to flee and for Strange and Spider-Man to fight together to stop the symbiote. Strange sends himself and the creature through a portal, to the events of the previous year, to when Peter received his powers to which Strange says they are not meant to be there, before returning to the present. With Spider-Man's help, Doctor Strange is able to defeat the symbiote as a bit of him is left behind. Spider-Man later finds Strange looking at the newly built Midtown High and he expresses he wishes he could have prevented the damages a year earlier, worried about all the people he could have endangered or changed their lives. Spider-Man reveals that his life was changed that day because it was how he got his powers. Strange thanks Spider-Man for his help and leaves through a portal.

- This is the first Doctor Strange in the MCU not to be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.
- His costume is more comic book accurate than his live action counterpart.
- This version of the character appears to have the ability to turn invisible, as seen when he fights the symbiote in the first episode. This is something his live-action counterpart does not have the ability to do.
