"Dog Mayor" is the second segment of the seventy-eighth episode of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Cricket and Remy run a campaign to get Phoenix the dog elected as mayor.
Plot[]
Cricket and Remy are walking around Smalton with Phoenix when they encounter Frank, the town's multipurpose man, who bluntly tells them that "she ain't no Beans" before seeing a man named Ernie leading a rally to elect his dog Beans as mayor. Frank tells the kids that Smalton is the only town with a dog mayor, as well as the only town that allows kids to vote, and that Beans has been running unopposed. Feeling that Phoenix is better than Beans in every way, Cricket decides to push to have Phoenix elected as the town's new mayor. He and Remy try to increase Phoenix's publicity, but Phoenix continues to come off as unkempt while Beans continues to be lauded, much to Cricket's irritation.
Meanwhile, Tilly is riding with Nancy on her motorcycle when they come across Pothole Road, a road that, as the name implies, is notorious for having numerous potholes. Nancy explains that the potholes have been there since before they went to Big City and is upset that no one has fixed them. She and Tilly take it upon themselves to fix it. The chore takes much longer than they realized, especially when Trey and Tracy comment on the ridiculous situation. Tilly ends up saving Nancy after her boot gets stuck in the tar and, just as she's about to give up, Trey, Tracy and the rest of the citizens of Smalton arrive to help Nancy fix the road, which they rename Nancy's Boot Road.
Cricket resorts to lying to make Phoenix look better as he and Remy film a video to improve her image. They show the video off to the residents of Smalton who are taken by it. Phoenix wins by an overwhelming margin and Cricket happily declares his dog the best. However, Remy accidentally leaves his phone playing the footage of their filming exploits as Phoenix accidentally causes it to be seen by everyone. The Smalton citizens are angered and Cricket admits to lying as he loves Phoenix, but admits that he longer cares what other people think of her. While everyone is touched by Cricket's honesty, they still chase him and Remy away with tomatoes.

- Dog mayors are an actual thing with the most famous one being Mayor Max II who served as mayor of Idyllwild–Pine Cove, California from 2013 to his death in 2022.
- Both the A and B plots of the episode never interact with each other, making for a somewhat disjointed episode.
