Donald's Magic Stone is Volume 10 of the Mickey's Young Readers Library. Starring Donald Duck and Goofy, it is an adaptation of the folk tale Stone Soup.
Synopsis[]
On a cold winter's day, Donald is chopping up wood for the kitchen. But he soon finds out that he has forgotten to go shopping for groceries. At that moment, Donald notices Goofy returning with an armful of shopping bags and tries to convince his friend to invite him over for dinner. Donald finds a sparkling stone on the ground and tells Goofy that he can make a soup from it. While Goofy prepares to put the groceries away, Donald fills a big soup pot with water. Donald adds the stone, and as the water comes to a boil, he says, "Bippity, boppity, boop. Make a tasty soup!" Donald tastes the soup to see what could improve it.
From there, Donald and Goofy add one ingredient after another until the soup has been perfected. Donald suggests that they set up the table with anything else that would go along well with the pot of soup. After dinner, Donald finally admits that the stone isn't magic at all, and Goofy comments on how it made his groceries disappear. The two laugh together, knowing that all they really needed was imagination.
