Douglas Noel Adams was an English author, humorist, scriptwriter, essayist, satirist, and dramatist. He wrote extensively for film, radio, and TV. As such, he is best known as the author of the popular BBC radio Sci-Fi Comedy series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which was adapted into the 2005 film by the same name. Some of his other writing credits include several stories for the popular BBC Sci-Fi drama series Doctor Who and Starship Titanic.
