"Downsized" is the first segment of the eighth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on March 20, 2015 alongside "Ride of the Quarkons".

Plot[]

Loretta is learning how to pilot the Stellosphere, and Leo is telling her to keep steady. Phoebe tells her to park the ship near an asteroid, and she successfully does so. Just then, Miles and M.E.R.C. arrive, and Loretta informs them that she has just completed the Callisto's redundancy training. By that, Phoebe says that they always need a backup person for every job on the ship. Leo says that that is cosmic explorer rules #28 and #29: redundancy is the best policy. M.E.R.C. wants to learn how to pilot the ship, but Phoebe is not so sure. As M.E.R.C. heads to the controls, he slips on Miles' Blastboard, and Leo stops the ship before concluding that they have enough backup pilots for the day. Stella then informs them about the Tomorrowland mail shuttle approaching the Stellosphere.

Mr. Xylon then arrives, and enlarges something with his Matter-Sizer, which is a toy dinosaur, scaring everyone. Xylon quickly shrinks it back, and enlarges a gift for Miles, direct from Tomorrowland. The gift is Miles' blaster rocket, which he has saved up Galileos to buy. As Miles controls the rocket, Stella informs everyone about a call from the Blopp family. Xylon then packs everything up.

Bobble tells the Callistos that they are glad to see them. Miles questions Blodger if everything is okay, and Bobble says that their ship has broken down right next to a star that is about to go supernova, which means it is going to explode. Blibby says that Leo is the nearest stellar mechanic, and Leo agrees to fix the ship, as he thinks that there is a problem with the turbo engine. After the transmission ends, Stella informs the Callistos that the supernova will occur in one hour and seventeen minutes. Mr. Xylon says that he will be on his way so the Callistos can take care of business.

As Mr. Xylon is looking for his Matter-Sizer, M.E.R.C. takes it to him, but while doing so, he accidentally shrinks the Callistos. Xylon then takes the mail shuttle out of the Stellosphere. Meanwhile, M.E.R.C. is looking for the Callistos, and does not realize that they are now miniscule. The Callistos run away from M.E.R.C., who then leaves the bridge. Phoebe attempts to call Mr. Xylon back to unshrink them, but Xylon's mailbox is full, and ends the call. Calling someone else will not help since the nearest starship is at least three hours away. With an hour remaining before the star goes supernova, the Callistos then decide to fix the ship themselves. Phoebe plans for the Stellosphere to get close enough to the Blopp's ship so Leo can spacewalk over and make repairs. However, Leo is unable to make it to the controls. Miles decides for M.E.R.C. to take them to the controls. Since it will take forever for the Callistos to walk around and look for him, Miles decides for them to use his Blastboard to find him quicker.

The plan works, and Miles informs M.E.R.C. that he accidentally shrunk the Callistos with the Matter-Sizer. M.E.R.C. then pushes the Callistos towards the controls, but Leo is unable to move the panel. The Blopp family calls the Callistos, but do not realize they are shrunk, and hopes for them to fix the ship soon. At that time, Leo agrees that they should have taught M.E.R.C. how to pilot the ship. Miles says that he can learn now. Phoebe tells him to power up the thrusters. However, M.E.R.C. first activates the ship's external drill, then retracts it. He then turns off the gravity, then turns it back on. Miles decides to do it together. He then tells M.E.R.C. to fire up the thrusters by pressing the gray button, and it works. Leo then tells him to set the navigation course by sliding a hologram to the right. Phoebe then tells M.E.R.C. to grab the control stick and push it forward, carefully. M.E.R.C. is now piloting the Stellosphere, and shortly afterwards, the ship arrives at the Blopp's ship.

However, Stella informs the Callistos to leave the area because the supernova blast will occur shortly. Since it would take hours for Leo to spacewalk over to the Blopp's ship, and since Leo can not ride M.E.R.C., Miles decides for him and Leo to take them there on the blaster rocket. However, Miles has difficulty piloting the rocket.

In the hangar, before Miles and Leo take the blaster rocket into space, Stella warns everyone that they are in danger from the supernova blast. Miles successfully pilots the rocket to the Blopp's ship's engines, and Leo finds a crack in the turbo engine. He then patches it up with his heat ray before seeing the Blopps. Leo then shows them that their ship is good to go, and Blibby says that they are cute. Miles then takes the rocket back to the Stellosphere, and the Blopp's ship heads out of the area. M.E.R.C. then takes the Stellosphere out of the area right before the star goes supernova.

Later, Mr. Xylon arrives back at the ship, and M.E.R.C. takes the Matter-Sizer from him so that he can re-size the Callistos to their normal size. The Callistos then inform Mr. Xylon of the mission they accomplished, with some big help from M.E.R.C. Leo concludes that "small's well that ends well", and that he started saying that now.
