Dr. Po is a character from the 2020 Disney+ original film Artemis Fowl.
Background[]
Dr. Po is a psychologist who works at Saint Bartleby's School for Young Gentlemen. He is shown to be kind in starting a therapy session to anyone whom he met throughout the therapy. However, he is shown to have a dislike to people who have a negative attitude towards him during a therapy, such as the case of Artemis Jr. feeling uncomfortable about him having to attend the therapy session.
Role in the film[]
Dr. Po only appears in the beginning of the film where Artemis Fowl Jr. was forced to attend a therapy session in his office. Throughout the session, Po noted that Artemis admires the chair where he sits and while trying to get down to business, he told Artemis that there is a problem with him, to which Artemis agreed, saying that the textbook would reply to anything that Po might choose to ask of him. However, Artemis' psychologist responded to him, telling him that he is not showing respect to anyone in treating them equally, only for Artemis to deny, telling him that he held several people in the highest esteem. Trying to give him an example of a person in the highest esteem, Artemis tells him that Albert Einstein is a person of highest esteem he knows. However, Po asks him to name someone whom he actually knew, only for Artemis to reply to tell him, since he apparently had every answer to him.
Throughout the conversation about Artemis' biography, Po brought up a topic about Artemis' late mother Angeline Fowl whom the latter describes her as a wonderful woman who was taken away, but had no control over her son's behavior. Po then brought up the absences of Artemis' father, telling him that he was in a sensitive area and continued that he never knew they allowed all the fakes in the palace and throughout the conversation, Po then became furious that Artemis was lashing out at him, because of the burden of his family's name, which Artemis verbally rebelled against him in reply, telling him that he was forced to endure the therapy just before he left, which left Po to ask who he thought he was. He does not make further appearances afterwards.
Trivia[]
- Although he appeared in the 2020 Disney adaptation of Artemis Fowl, Dr. Po in the original source material did not appear until the book Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident.
