Dr. Stern is a character in the Disney Channel animated television series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, serving as the main antagonist of his debut episode "In The Heist". He is the extremely strict curator of the National Art Institute of New York.
Background[]
Physical appearance[]
Dr. Stern is a thin middle-aged Caucasian man who has brownish-grey hair and a black goatee, along with glasses that have dark green rims and light green lenses. He wears a dark brown suit which has a tie the same color as the rims of his glasses. He also has tan pants and brown shoes.
Role in the series[]
Dr. Stern is first seen when Coach Hrbek introduces him to some of the kids of I.S. 833, who are on a field trip. During his introduction, Dr. Stern mentions that he has six PhDs, so he should technically be called "Doctors Stern". He then welcomes the kids to the National Art Institute of New York and goes over multiple rules he expects them to follow. After sharing the rules, he leads them to the Crystal of Karwar, which hails from the Indian state of Karnataka, and tells them it is the first time it has been on display. Dr. Stern then goes into the details revolving around the crystal, though he is interrupted by Anand, who tells him that the crystal could not have come from Karnataka due to the soil of the region lacking the elements that would turn the crystal blue. Anand then comments on the runes on the crystal, doubting that they were based on Indo-Aryan language structures. Dr. Stern then ends the conversation by noting that he has a PhD in Linguistics and Anand does not.
Seeing Lunella on a phone, he takes it away from her, reminding her of the no phones rule. Lunella then tries to convince him the crystal is dangerous, as it was revealed by her Kree friend Kid Kree that the crystal would cause devastation and destroy Manhattan and parts of New Jersey. Lunella and the STEM kids then plan a heist to steal the crystal to prevent the mayhem it would cause at three o'clock.
Later, Dr. Stern sees Anand reaching for the crystal and accuses him of trying to steal the artifact. Despite this, Anand is able to steal the crystal, prompting Dr. Stern to chase him across the museum. However, Anand runs into Devil Dinosaur, causing his backpack containing the crystal to fly into the air, though Anand is able to catch it, but is captured by Dr. Stern, who leaves them in the security break room.
Dr. Stern then notifies Coach Hrbek of the STEM kids attempting to steal the crystal and leads him to the security break room. However, Coach Hrbek does not believe him, though Dr. Stern says he has proof and rummages through Anand's backpack, where he had put the crystal. Much to the shock of Dr. Stern, the crystal is not there, and leads them to the Crystal of Karwar's display case, though it is revealed the crystal is safely in its glass case, destroying Dr. Stern's credibility and leading to him being fired.
