"Dreamcatcher" is the sixtieth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Elena of Avalor. It premiered on October 22, 2019, and is the eleventh episode in the third season.
Plot[]
Elena is in a mystical place playing Olaball with a Peabunny Noblin. Suddenly, a tucan squirrel appears and steals Queen Lucia's tiara. Suddenly, Elena wakes up. The whole thing was just a dream. Isabel comes in and tells her that she slept through breakfast. In the dining room, Elena tells Isabel about her dream. Suddenly, Isabel shows Elena a sketch she made of Esteban, to her big sister's fury. Suddenly, Elena sees the Peabunny Noblin from her dream. Isabel reminds her that there's no such thing as a Peabunny Noblin. When Elena sees the sketch of Esteban again, she tells Isabel to never mention him again. Meanwhile, Esteban is struggling to learn how to harness his magic.
Back at Avalor Palace, Elena apologizes to Isabel for snapping at her. Elena then explains to Isabel that she doesn't want to talk about Esteban because she's afraid she'll think about how he betrayed the family and she'll get so upset that it'll set off her new magic in a horrible way. Isabel promises not to mention him again. Suddenly, the tree from Elena's dream appears. Isabel is overjoyed that it has rubies and cake on it. Elena realizes that the Peabunny Noblin from her dream is real, too, so she summons Zuzo, whom she tells about what's going on. She's worried that the toucan squirrel will become real next, and she wants to know why this is happening and how to make it stop. Zuzo offers to help by getting into her dream and taking a look around.
After getting Elena to fall asleep, Zuzo enters her dream, Elena chases after the toucan squirrel. The dream ends upon seeing her dress turn orange to indicate her anger. Zuzo deduces that like while she's awake, when Elena feels big emotions in her dreams, her new magic will kick in. This makes Elena realize that something from the dream she just had is going to show up in real life. Zuzo hopes it'll be that rainbow slide, but unfortunately, the toucan squirrel appears. Zuzo explains that dreams are the mind's way of working out problems we have in real life. Elena doesn't have a problem with squirrels or toucans, but Zuzo explains that she has a problem she's not dealing with while she's awake, and her dream is trying to tell her what that is. He says that if they figure out why that creature is bothering Elena in her dream, she'll figure out what's bothering her in real life. Elena falls asleep again, and in her dream, she catches the toucan squirrel, who breaks her mother's tiara...and afterwards, he turns into Esteban. Elena wakes up and angrily says that she doesn't want to hear Esteban's name. Zuzo says that keeping her emotions to herself won't make them go away; they just keep showing up in her dreams. Elena hears Isabel shouting from outside, and it turns out the toucan squirrel is fighting with her for her sketchbook. Elena angrily tells the creature to leave her sister alone, and she's now angry to the point where her magic acts up. The entire garden floats up to her balcony, and Elena's magic teleports Esteban to their location. Zuzo says that the only way to stop all this is to let her feelings out. Elena fears that'll make her magic go haywire, and Zuzo tells her that it already has; bottling up her emotions caused them to come out in her dreams and create this mess. Zuzo concludes that if Elena lets her emotions out, she can let them go. Elena tells Esteban how she feels about his betrayal and disowns him as her cousin before sending him back. While everything is back to normal at the palace, Esteban tells Ash he's now committed to his training.
Back at the palace, Elena tells Isabel that it's okay to say Esteban's name; she just has to share her feelings instead of keeping them to herself, so her magic won't go crazy the way it did today. The two decide to have a chat about Esteban as they have tea.
