In the beginning of the movie, Clara and her family go to a Christmas party held by him. When Clara arrives, she ask him if he had the key that opens Marie's last gift for her.

It's not confirmed, but it is implied he had a pet Owl, who travelled to the Four Realms to take care of Clara.
