- Goofy sings "The World Owes Me a Living", which originated from The Grasshopper and the Ants and later became associated with Goofy for a while.
- The leprechaun says, "Unhand me lucky charms", in reference to Lucky the Leprechaun, the mascot for the General Mills cereal Lucky Charms. In addition, the piece, La Gioconda, played while Mickey was looking for a four-leaf clover, which was previously heard in the 1940 version of Fantasia.
- The penny Mickey finds was minted in 1966, the year of Walt Disney's death.
