"Dust Bunnies" is the second segment of the sixteenth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on February 16, 2018 alongside "Look Who's Scared Now!".
Synopsis[]
It is time to give the house its one-hundred year clean. While her parents leave to buy some cleaning accessories, Vee and her friends are left to clean the house. Demi tries to use magic to clean the house faster, but instead conjures up Dust Bunnies who begin to wreak havoc.
Plot[]
Demi is floating over the pool with Vampirina and Gregoria watching when Oxana tells everyone that it is time for the Scare B&B to be cleaned, although the Hauntleys have never cleaned it before, as they need a cleaning once every one hundred years. After Demi confirms it, Oxana mentions how bad houses get after one hundred years and states that it is time to make it frightfully clean. Vampirina can't wait to get started on it. Although Demi doubts that his hands are not for hard work, Oxana states that she and Boris are already getting started. They will go to Transylvania to pick up more ghoul polish before coming back to finish.
Vampirina states that if she, Demi, and Gregoria work together, they'll be back outside in no time. However, Demi finds it very hard, although he is continuously reminded by Gregoria. After Demi mentions it, he decides to magically make the dust disappear with magical creatures. He looks at Oxana's book of household spells, and although Vampirina and Gregoria say otherwise, Demi says the magic spell that turns all the dust into dust bunnies. It is revealed that he read the spell to turn dust into hare, another name for a bunny. Demi states that the bunnies are totally harmless when they cause mischief all around the Scare B&B.
Vampirina decides to look up the counter-spell to put everything back to normal when the dust bunnies rip up the book. She decides to wait for her parents to return when the dust bunnies cause more mischief. After the dust bunnies make a book fall from a shelf, Vampirina reads it to them, which is about Muddy the messy mummy. She learned that although she likes messes, being clean can also be just as good. The dust bunnies then fall asleep, as well as Demi. As everyone leaves, Vampirina states that as long as the dust bunnies stay asleep until her parents arrive, everything will be fine. As Demi looks outside, he accidentally talks about haze, storm clouds, and Vampirina's clothes falling from the sky, which actually happens afterwards. The dust bunnies then play with them.
After Gregoria mentions it, Vampirina decides to wear out the dust bunnies, and they will be too tired to make a mess. Demi states that he'd rather be cleaning. Vampirina states that dust bunnies get worn out when they play scare tag. However, they quickly run away, tiring everyone else out. They also get tired out, as well. After Vampirina, Gregoria, and Demi leave, it is revealed that the dust bunnies are on Demi's head, and they cause more mischief.
At that time, Chef Remy Bones is preparing a blend of scary and berry pies when the dust bunnies play catch with them. Bones just manages to catch them, but the dust bunnies spin him around, causing the pies to splatter on Gregoria's face. Vampirina apologizes for the mess, and everyone witness the mischief the dust bunnies are causing. Eventually, they lock Vampirina, Gregoria, Demi, and Bones out of the Scare B&B. Just then, Oxana and Boris arrive. Demi and Vampirina explain everything to them. Boris knows all about them. Demi states that he won't be using magic to take shortcuts anytime soon after a spell to contain the dust bunnies is cast. Oxana states that it won't happen without reciting the spell exactly it was in the book.
Vampirina then decides to collect the dust bunnies the old-fashioned way; the mess was made by not cleaning, and everyone will get out of it by cleaning. Demi gets in the Scare B&B and unlocks the door. Once inside, everyone cleans up the mess and puts the dust bunnies in a box. After Vampirina mentions it, Oxana and Boris decide to take the dust bunnies to Nanpire's house, which is the most chaotic and messy house there is, and Nanpire is a spooktacular housekeeper. A cat then takes the box to the house. Demi owes everyone a big thanks. He vows to never use shortcuts again and states that cleaning can be fun. Everyone then decides to clean up Vampirina's room. Meanwhile, Nanpire is delighted by the dust bunnies given to her.
