"Earth's Crust" is the second episode of Bill Nye the Science Guy. It aired on September 17, 1993.
This episode discusses volcanoes, geysers, earthquakes, and tectonic plates. It also debuts recurring minor character Ritchie and his family, an apparent Leave it to Beaver parody. In this episode, Ritchie refuses to eat the crust on his bread, earning him admonishment from his parents, and ultimately flipping their kitchen table and causing them to fall over in their chairs when an earthquake strikes the house.
There is no opening shot of Bill entering "Nye Labs" in this or the next episode. Jenna von Oÿ, then the portrayer of Six LeMeure on Blossom and partially in-character, cameos to help Bill liken the Earth's crust to an egg. The ending music video is "Crust", by "Magmadonna", a parody of Madonna's Vogue.
