Edward Harrison Norton is an American actor, screenwriter, director, producer, and activist. He was nominated for three Academy Awards for his work in films, including Primal Fear, American History X, and Birdman. He has also starred in various other movie roles, such as Holden Spence in Everyone Says I Love You, Alan Isaacman in The People vs. Larry Flynt, the Narrator in Fight Club, Will Graham in Red Dragon, King Baldwin IV in Kingdom of Heaven, Eisenheim the Illusionist in The Illusionist, Randy Ward in Moonrise Kingdom, and Albert Henckels in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Additionally, he voiced Sammy Bagel, Jr. in the 2016 R-rated computer-animated film Sausage Party.
For Disney, he portrayed Lester "Worm" Murphy in the 1998 Miramax film Rounders, Father Brian Finn in the 2000 Touchstone Pictures film Keeping the Faith (which he also co-wrote and directed), Monty Brogan in 25th Hour, and Pete Seeger in the 2024 Searchlight Pictures film A Complete Unknown.
Norton also played Bruce Banner in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk before Disney acquired Marvel Studios. He was expected to reprise this role in The Avengers, but due to disputes with production, he was replaced by Mark Ruffalo.

- In 2023, Norton learned in the PBS documentary series Finding Your Roots that he is the twelfth great-grandson of Pocahontas and John Rolfe, of which his family supposedly suspected for years.[1]
