"Eeyi Eeyi Eeyore" is the second segment of the fourth episode of the third season of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh that originally aired on ABC on September 8, 1990.
Synopsis[]
Rabbit has a hard time getting a seed to sprout, which he then gives to Eeyore. Eeyore ends up making it grow successfully (which is actually Piglet in disguise), which surprises them both.
Plot[]
In his garden, Rabbit is frustrated by the amount of weeds growing in his garden when Eeyore arrives and surprises him. He says he's been watching Rabbit and explains to him that plants have feelings and talking to them will make them grow better. Rabbit doesn't believe it and adds that he has a little seed that he's been trying to grow but all of his attempts have failed. Eeyore then tells Rabbit that he may have a better chance of getting it to grow where Rabbit sees it as an opportunity bet. He plants the seed near Eeyore's place and waters it wishing him good luck.
At the same time, Pooh, Tigger and Piglet arrive wondering what's going on and Rabbit tells him he made a bet with Eeyore that he can make the seed grow before heading back to his garden. After seeing Eeyore waiting, the three feel sorry for Eeyore and decide to cheer him up. Pooh and Tigger plan to dress Piglet as a flower making it look like he's the plant much to Piglet's worry.
Later that night, Eeyore sings the seed a lullaby to it (which Pooh and Tigger find soothing) before going to sleep. Afterwards, Pooh and Tigger quietly put Piglet over the seed before leaving. The next morning Eeyore sees Piglet and is amazed at how fast the plant grew while Pooh and Tigger tell themselves a job well done. After Eeyore waters him, Piglet sees Rabbit coming and covers his face so Rabbit doesn't recognize him. Upon arriving Rabbit is shocked that Eeyore was able to grow the seed in one night. Although he's a bit suspicious upon getting a closer look, he sadly admits that Eeyore is the best gardener. He takes Piglet to his garden and tells Eeyore that the garden is his before leaving dejectedly. Meanwhile Pooh and Tigger begin to wonder where Piglet is so they go back to Eeyore's to check on him.
Sometime later, Eeyore has made a mess of the garden (by watering the weeds and feeding the vegetables to the bugs) while also caring for Piglet. After Eeyore leaves, Piglet admits that their plan to cheer Eeyore up didn't work out well and heads to a river to wash his feet before meeting with Pooh. At Eeyore's house, Pooh and Tigger are surprised that Rabbit has taken residence (as he feels depressed) so the two decide to look elsewhere for Piglet. While at Rabbit's Eeyore realizes his plant is gone and decides to look for Rabbit to talk about plants that move.
As Pooh and Tigger are looking for Piglet, Eeyore finds Rabbit at his house and brings him back to his garden. He's horrified at the state of his garden and agrees to help Eeyore look for his plant. At the river Piglet has washed all the mud off his feet and attempts to get to Pooh and Tigger while avoiding Eeyore and Rabbit. In disgust, Piglet throws the flower costume to the ground and meets up with Pooh while Eeyore sees the costume and believes his plant wilted. Rabbit meanwhile sees it's actually a costume and meets up with the three where he demands an explanation.
After they tell Rabbit they only wanted to cheer Eeyore up, the four rush to Eeyore's to tell the truth while Rabbit laments about giving a worthless seed to him. When they get to Eeyore's they see him singing a lullaby to the plant where it has already bloomed and Pooh admits to Rabbit that the 'worthless' seed he gave him was actually not worthless.
